I got a portfolio last night! In the portfolio I am going to start making it look kind of like a scrap book with everything included in my salon!

I am very much progressing with the Wells Fargo building I have all the measurements and the assessed cost of the building. The building even has a 1/2 bath included. With all the information that I have I can take the next step. I can now decide how many vanities and people I will have working there with the size of the building.
So that everyone can see exactly what I am going to do to the building I am going to have a scrapbook/portfolio. This will contain of all the details from the floor to the chairs. I will also draw the floor plan of the building so I can have a better idea of what I'm designing.

Over the weekend I did my sisters hair. I started doing her hair at 10:15 am I started by separating her hair because I was going to give her a peekaboo. I colored her hair medium brown on the bottom and after having that set and rinsing it I colored the top part a carmel blonde. I let that set and rinsed it. I finished coloring her hair at 12:00 pm. The next set was to style her hair and I started that at 2:20 pm. After her hair had completely dried I started curling her hair with an inch curling iron and separated her hair in to tiny pieces and hair sprayed each piece. When i got to the top layer I back combed it and finished curling. After her hair was all done I sprayed it all and bobby pinned it into a loose updo with spiral curls hanging by her ears and added a flower for an accessory. I then did her makeup I put foundation on her face with blush, put some eye shadow on that accented her eyes and I added brown mascara. I got done with her hair and makeup at 5:30. I spent a total of 4 hours and 55 minutes.

I have met with my faculty mentor throughout the first semester in homeroom. We discuss my senior project, my progress with it, and my ideas. I will be meeting with my community mentor next week sometime ask questions. I will be asking a lot of business related questions and some basic ones as well.

The flooring of my salon has been picked and the price is already estimated. The flooring that will be included in my salon is Natural walnut hardwood flooring. With the walls I have the colors already picked out and the colors will be stripes on the walls. The salon will have a sassy modern feel to it.

The salon brochures are started and all that needs to be plugged in is the prices and what is available with the salon. I am making brochures for my salon that will show everyone what the prices are for everything that is available and the colors on the brochure give people a sneak peak of what they will see in the salon. :)

The building I have in mind for my salon to be held at in town here is the old Wells Fargo building. I am hoping to get a hold of someone who is selling it and just get some information and maybe be able to go in and measure out the building and get a good idea of what the lay out will look like. Once I see exactly what the size the building is I will then be able to chose how many vanities I can put in the salon and know exactly how much room I will have for what.

I had not said how the name got decided for my salon. First of all Cut it and Strut it is the name. I was having a difficult time figuring out what to name this place and I wanted it to be catchy and a place that sounds like a place people would want to go to. So I was trying to get some ideas from my friends and my friend Lexi Quail text me while I was at Wal-mart and told me the name and I loved it instantly. She told me her dad came up with the name and she switched it up a little bit. Now Cut it and Strut it will be the salon's name.

I am pretty sure I have found my salon colors. I have mixed and matched different colors and I think I have found the colors that bring out the name of my salon. The colors that I have selected are a bright teal color, pink, burnt orange, and silver. I don't know how exactly I will display these colors which colors will go where but the good thing is I have my colors now I can move on to the next step!

Cut it and Strut it being the name of my salon I plan to pick some colors that go along with the name. The name of my salon is spunky and sassy and some colors that fit that will really make my salon pop. I was thinking some bright colors, maybe pinks and yellows. I was maybe even thinking some modern color schemes. A popular color scheme now that I have noticed is yellow silver and white or black. I was planning on doing something with those colors but might just stick to the bright funky colors.

I have some ideas on what I want to put in my salon. I have been looking at styling stations and chairs trying to see if something will spark my attention and so far a silver styling station has really drawn my attention. I plan on putting this in my salon somewhere. My color scheme has not been picked but the name of my salon has. The name will be Cut it and Strut it.

I am now trying to figure out different to put in my salon but I can't pick anything out until I pick colors out. I am looking on a great website minervabeauty.com, this website has a lot of great salon equipment so I am planning to get the majority of the things I need for my salon from this site.

My project is on cosmetology. I will be going more in depth then just the basic hair and nails. I will be starting my own salon in Clear Lake. I am going to find an empty building and “take out a loan” and remake the whole building into my very own salon. Mrs. Walder is my faculty mentor. My community mentor is Mikki Gubka and we have not got together yet to discuss everything but I am planning that tonight we will.
